Tournament format details Dutch Pinball Masters 2023

Main tournament (Saturday & Sunday)

Qualifying on Saturday consists of 12 groups of 10 players each. Each group plays round robin head-to-head max matchplay (9 games). The top 4 of each group will advance to the final rounds on Sunday (48 players in total). If a tie needs to be broken to determine the top 4, a single tiebreaker game will be played.

Final rounds on Sunday:
  • Round 1: 16 groups of 3 players will play a group match on 3 machines. Top 2 will advance to the last 32 players. Points per game are 4-2-1.
  • Round 2: 8 groups of 4 players will play a group match on 3 machines. Top 2 will advance to the last 16 players. 
  • Round 3: 4 groups of 4 players will play a group match on 3 machines. Top 2 will advance to the last 8 players 
  • Round 4: 2 groups of 4 players will play a group match on 3 machines. Top 2 will advance to the last 4 players
  • Final round: the last 4 players will play a group match on 3 machines. The player with the most point wins. If points are tied, a tie breaker game on 1 machine will be played.
Points per game are 4-2-1-0 in all 4 player games.
 

Classics tournament (Friday & Saturday)

Qualifying is done on Friday from 19:30 to 21:30 and on Saturday from 09:00 to 19:00. Each player plays 10 games for best score, each game can be played twice at maximum, all games count.

The best 32 players from qualifying start playing the final rounds at 20:00, each round consists of 4 player games (group matchplay), 3 games per round. The best 2 players per group advance to the next round. We expect the last round to be finished around 23:30.
 

Second Chance tournament (Sunday)

For all players that have not advanced to the final rounds of the main tournament, a second chance tournament can be played on Sunday. The tournament starts around 10:00. It will be a fair strikes group matchplay tournament (4 player games, 2-1-1-0 strikes per game). If a player reaches 7 strikes, the tournament is over for that player. 
 

Team tournament (Friday)

The team tournament is played on Friday, starting at 19:00.
We will have 12 to 14 teams in total.

The first round each team is part of a poule of 3 or 4 teams (4 poules in total). Each team plays all other teams in the same poule, the winner of the poule advances to the semifinals where 4 teams play head-to-head and in the finals the 2 remaining teams battle for the win!

Each round consists of 6 games (4 single player games for 1 point per game won, and 2 split flipper games for 2 point per game won).

If there is a tie at the end of the first round, we will look at the results of the teams that have tied, the team with the best results advances. Only if those results are also equal, a tiebreaker split flipper game will be played.
